  1. I wanted to know whether changing the crawl rate in Google's Webmaster Tools really made a difference? Does Adjusting the crawl rate has any effect on ranking? Kindly help
  2. As far as I know, the crawl rate is simply a suggestion. I have no doubt Google will crawl at a different rate if they see fit.

    Will crawl rate affect ranking?

If you have a lot of content being added to your website and Google isn't indexing it quickly enough, a better crawl rate may help articles being indexed quicker.
  3. I've never bothered to be honest. I generally trust Google on things like this.

I know it's more for if your server cannot handle Google's Crawl rate you can throttle it yourself, and then increasing it when you move or upgrade servers. I've never bothered with it mind.
